The Challenge Island STEAM program and curriculum are designed to meet the needs of two entities: Today’s playful, imaginative child and tomorrow’s empowered, globally-successful adult.

STEAM is much more than an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. STEM / STEAM education is a transformative approach to traditional teaching and learning that fosters creativity and innovative thinking in all students. Not only does STEAM make school more engaging and turn kids into BIG THINKERS, STEAM builds the fundamental skills and personal qualities kids need to thrive in college, career, and the 21st century. Higher Order Thinking, or the ability to think deeply, critically, analytically and creatively, is essential to children’s academic and professional success. Bloom’s Taxonomy is a hierarchy of thinking with the lowest levels of thinking at the bottom and the highest levels at the top. Children reach the highest level of cognition, CREATING, during every single Challenge Island experience.
